Ethiopia’s MESOB Service Begins Preparations for International ISO Certification

October 26, 2026 | By Semahegn Nigatu

FDRE MESOB Service has signed a technical cooperation agreement with the Ethiopian Standards Institute to prepare for international ISO quality certification, in a move aimed at standardising service delivery across its centres nationwide.

The agreement will support preparations for certification, including efforts to improve service quality, operational efficiency and institutional performance, according to an announcement by MESOB.

The initiative is expected to extend to regional MESOB centres in the coming months, with the stated aim of establishing consistent service standards across the network.

ISO certification involves assessing whether an organisation’s management systems meet the requirements of a particular international standard. The applicable requirements depend on the standard selected and the organisation’s scope of operations.

Further details on the certification process, including the selected standard and assessment arrangements, were not provided. The announcement did not specify which ISO standard MESOB intends to pursue, the expected certification timeline or the centres that will be covered in the initial phase.
