The Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) said it attracted 166 investors with combined investment commitments exceeding 750 million US dollars during the 2025/26 fiscal year, with projects spanning manufacturing, agro-processing, logistics and other industrial sectors. The investors were drawn to IPDC-managed special economic zones and industrial parks, according to the corporation, which disclosed the performance during a review forum held in Hawassa. The achievement represented 75 percent of the investor attraction target set for the fiscal year.

As reported by EBS TV, domestic investors accounted for the largest share of the attracted investment, representing 84 percent of the total, while foreign direct investment contributed 10 percent. The remaining six percent came from joint ventures between Ethiopian and foreign investors. IPDC said the newly attracted businesses came from several countries, including China, the United States, the United Kingdom, India and Djibouti, and are engaged in a range of industries.

The investments cover sectors such as trade and logistics, agro-processing, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment manufacturing, textiles and apparel, chemicals, construction, engineering and metal production. Fisseha Yitagesu (Dr), chief executive officer of IPDC, said the corporation’s investor attraction performance reached 75 percent of its planned target for the year.

IPDC manages industrial parks and special economic zones as part of Ethiopia’s efforts to expand industrial capacity, attract investment and develop manufacturing activities. The strong performance during the fiscal year demonstrates growing confidence from both domestic and international investors in Ethiopia’s industrial development strategy.

The corporation continues to position Ethiopia as an attractive destination for industrial investment, with a focus on creating jobs, enhancing export capabilities and supporting the country’s broader economic transformation goals.
