Ethiopia’s Federal Housing Corporation has signed a financing and investment partnership agreement with Siinqee Bank as the state-owned developer intensifies efforts to mobilise capital for large-scale housing projects and expand collaboration with domestic financial institutions.

The agreement comes at a time when Ethiopian authorities are increasingly turning to blended financing models and public-private partnerships to address rising urban housing demand, particularly in Addis Ababa.

Last month, the Ministry of Finance, on behalf of the corporation, invited private investors to participate in four affordable housing public-private partnership projects across the capital.

Under the latest agreement, Siinqee Bank will support financing arrangements for the corporation’s ongoing housing developments, while both institutions also agreed to cooperate in other strategic investment areas.

The Federal Housing Corporation said the partnership forms part of broader efforts to strengthen ties with local financial institutions to improve access to modern housing projects.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, chief executive Reshad Kemal (PhD) said the agreement would strengthen the corporation’s financial capacity to execute major housing developments.
