The Ethiopian Federal Police have arrested TikTok creator Adonai Berhane A/Michael in connection with a case involving public appearances deemed “contrary to the culture and good morals of the Ethiopian people.”

Adonai, who recently won four awards at the 3rd G-Power TikTok Creative Awards, is among five individuals detained for wearing clothing described by authorities as indecent and inappropriate for public viewing, including live television broadcasts.

In a statement, the Federal Police said the investigation targets the “irresponsible use of the media for the sole purpose of gaining recognition and money,” with the aim of protecting the younger generation from engaging in activities that undermine cultural values.

Authorities previously announced that suspects and their accomplices who appeared in revealing attire at the awards show had been arrested, underscoring the police’s commitment to enforcing cultural and ethical norms in public spaces.
