The Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations and the Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise have entered into a strategic partnership designed to strengthen collaboration on trade facilitation, logistics efficiency and support for Ethiopia's business community.

The agreement establishes a framework for the two institutions to coordinate efforts in improving the movement of goods, enhancing links across the logistics value chain and supporting more efficient import and export operations. It also provides for joint action to address challenges facing businesses and create a structured platform for communicating the priorities of the private sector.

The partnership builds on an existing relationship between the organisations. The Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise has been a longstanding member of Addis Chamber, while the two institutions have previously worked together on business support initiatives and capacity-building programmes. Officials said the new agreement is intended to formalise and expand that cooperation.

Under the memorandum of understanding, the organisations also plan to work together to promote commercial activity, strengthen logistics coordination and contribute to national economic development through sustained institutional cooperation. The framework aims to reinforce investment and improve the operating environment for trade by aligning the efforts of both organisations.

The agreement was signed by Addis Chamber President Zehara Mohammed and Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise Chief Executive Officer Engineer Abdulber Shemsu during a ceremony attended by senior officials from both institutions.

Representatives of the two organisations said the memorandum creates the basis for a long-term strategic partnership between two institutions with longstanding roles in Ethiopia's commercial sector. They said closer cooperation is expected to strengthen the country's trade and logistics ecosystem while supporting continued economic growth.
