The Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Supply Service distributed medical supplies worth more than 92 billion birr during the 2025/26 Ethiopian fiscal year, as it raised the availability of medicines and medical supplies to 79.5 percent, according to Abdulqadir Gelgelo, director-general of the service.

The service procured and distributed the supplies through regular procurement, as well as the Resource and Development Fund and donor-supported health programmes, Abdulqadir said during the service’s annual employee meeting.

The meeting was held at the service’s headquarters on Tuesday, with senior management and employees attending in person and branch offices participating online.

Abdulqadir attributed the increase in medical supply availability to improvements in the service’s operating system and credited employees and management for contributing to the performance.

For the current Ethiopian fiscal year, the service plans to focus on improving medicine availability, reducing wastage, using resources more efficiently, strengthening digital information systems and increasing customer satisfaction, according to Abdulqadir.
