In Epping, Essex, United Kingdom, an Ethiopian immigrant who was the source of the protest was found guilty of sexual harassment.

At a hearing on September 4, 2025, Colchester City Court found Haddush Gebre Selase guilty of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old and an adult woman.

Haddush reportedly touched one of two 14-year-old girls sitting in the city center and said he wanted to have a baby.

Ethiopian refugee Hadush Gebre Selase, who has been charged with sexual harassment of minors, caused a huge protest in the area of The Bell, a hotel for dependents.

In trial, Haddush was found guilty of sexually harassing the teenage girl, inciting a child to commit sexual acts, and attempted sexual assault.

the judge warned Haddush that punishment awaits him.

In recent weeks, thousands of people have held anti-immigrant protests near the Bell Hotel following the man's arrest, as have anti-racism rallies.

The police announced that 16 people were arrested in the violence related to the protest.
