The Ethiopian Investment Holdings reported strong results from its hospitality sector during day two of its annual performance dialogue on August 19, 2025. Four businesses under its portfolio posted a combined pre-tax profit of 564.2 million birr in the 2024/25 fiscal year, a 37% increase from the previous year.

The review covered Spa Service Enterprise, Ghion Hotels Enterprise, DHC (Hilton Hotel), and Guenet Hotel, which collectively generated 2.1 billion birr in revenue, exceeding budget targets by 14%. Rising tourist arrivals and growing market demand were cited as key drivers, with strategies focusing on modernizing sales and distribution channels, integrating digital services, improving customer experience, and upgrading property management systems.

In addition, the Ethiopian Engineering Corporation (EEC) was also reviewed, posting 8.9 billion birr in revenue for the 2017 Ethiopian fiscal year, surpassing its annual plan by 17%. EEC completed 111 design projects, 272 supervision and contract administration assignments, and 53 construction projects, achieving 94.8% of planned physical output and earning 1.1 million USD from projects in Nigeria and Tanzania.

EIH encouraged both the hospitality and engineering sectors to diversify financing sources, invest in long-term growth, and expand into international markets to support sustainable development and strengthen their contribution to Ethiopia’s economy.
