In the city of Southampton, England, an Ethiopian refugee was reported to have committed sexual assault at a hotel where he was staying.

The 23-year-old Ethiopian male, originally from Eritrea, has been placed under custody following his appearance at the Southampton Magistrates' Court.

The inquiry into the matter has revealed that the suspect, who has not been granted asylum, has been detained for approximately five years pending the resolution of his asylum case.

The perpetrator is reported to have taken a woman under surveillance, claiming that he has not completed his investigation.

The Hampshire police have confirmed that they are looking into the incident that occurred last Friday at the Hayfield House Hotel.

The suspect's lawyer, Khalid Mizuri, stated, "He was born in Eritrea. He is one of the few individuals who can seek asylum from countries that allow for such requests.

Numerous human rights violations have occurred in Eritrea. He has been detained for five full years without any known reason.

To date, no decision has been made regarding his case."

After the report was submitted to the police, investigators proceeded to the hotel to gather information, and it has been reported by Sky News that the suspect is under surveillance. The court has issued a summons to view the bail request.
