Ethiopian Cargo Expands Digital Booking With CargoAi Partnership

Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services is expanding its digital booking network through a new partnership with CargoAi, giving more than 30,000 freight forwarders access to the carrier’s rates and available cargo capacity in real time.

The agreement allows freight forwarders to obtain Ethiopian Cargo pricing and make electronic bookings through CargoAi’s marketplace. The service will also connect with leading transport management systems, enabling forwarders to access the carrier through different digital booking channels.

The move adds another digital distribution channel for Africa’s largest cargo network operator as airlines increasingly shift cargo sales and booking processes away from traditional, manual arrangements.

Ethiopian Cargo will also gain access to CargoAi’s digital interline capabilities. The system is designed to facilitate bookings involving partner airlines and allow participating carriers to manage shared capacity digitally.

Dereje Derero, managing director of Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services, said the partnership forms part of the carrier’s long-term digitalisation strategy.

“Digitalization is a key pillar of Ethiopian Cargo’s long-term strategy,” Derero said. “Partnering with CargoAi allows us to bring our services closer to freight forwarders worldwide by offering a modern and seamless booking experience.”

CargoAi connects airlines with freight forwarders, ground handling agents and airports through digital systems and uses artificial intelligence tools to automate and optimise air cargo workflows.

Matthieu Petot, chief executive of CargoAi, said the partnership would provide freight forwarders with real-time access to Ethiopian Cargo’s capacity and pricing while increasing the carrier’s digital visibility.

The partnership gives Ethiopian Cargo another digital interface through which freight forwarders can access its international cargo network, alongside direct connections with transport management systems.
