Ethiopian Airlines Unveils 2027 Inflight Menu as Catering Operation Expands

Ethiopian Airlines has unveiled its 2027 inflight catering menu as the airline expands the scale of an operation that produces meals for its growing international and domestic network.

The airline presented the new menu for economy and business class passengers at a tasting event at Ethiopian Skylight Hotel, where customers were invited to sample the meals and provide direct feedback on the new offerings.

The exercise forms part of the airline’s efforts to use passenger feedback in developing its inflight catering services, according to the airline.

Ethiopian Airlines’ catering operation has the capacity to produce up to 100,000 meals a day, according to the airline’s corporate profile. Its catering facilities operate around the clock to serve an average of more than 125 flights a day.

The airline has also been reported to be preparing an expansion that would increase daily catering capacity to 150,000 meals within six months. The reported target is higher than the 100,000-meal daily capacity currently stated in the airline’s corporate information.

The catering business dates back to 1968 and has expanded alongside the airline’s network. Ethiopian opened an 11,500-square-metre catering facility in 2016 as part of efforts to increase production capacity.

Its catering operation serves a range of cuisines, including Ethiopian, Chinese, Indian, Italian, Ottoman, Halal and European dishes.
