Ethiopian Airlines has retained the title of Africa’s best airline at the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards, extending its run to nine consecutive years.

The Addis Ababa-based carrier also won two other regional awards, taking the titles for Best Business Class in Africa and Best Economy Class Onboard Catering in Africa.

The awards recognise the airline’s performance across passenger services and come as Ethiopian Airlines continues to expand its international network and invest in its fleet, digital systems and customer services.

Mesfin Tasew, chief executive of Ethiopian Airlines Group, said the ninth consecutive award reflected customer confidence and the efforts of the airline’s employees.

“Being recognized as the Skytrax Best Airline in Africa for the ninth consecutive year is a proud milestone for Ethiopian Airlines,” Tasew said. “This achievement reflects the confidence that our valued customers place in us, the dedication of our employees, and our continued commitment to delivering world-class service.” He added that the airline would continue to focus on service quality across its network.

Ethiopian Airlines has in recent years invested in new aircraft, digital services and network expansion as it seeks to strengthen connections between Africa and international markets. The carrier operates an extensive network linking Addis Ababa with destinations across Africa and other regions.

The latest Skytrax awards add to a series of industry recognitions received by the airline as it expands its operations and positions Addis Ababa as a major international aviation hub.
