Ethiopian Airlines has taken delivery of its 22nd Airbus A350-900 aircraft, two weeks after receiving its 21st, reinforcing its position as one of Africa’s most modern and technologically advanced carriers.

The A350-900, a long-haul, wide-body aircraft, features a carbon-fibre fuselage, new-generation engines, and advanced cabin technology designed to improve fuel efficiency and passenger comfort. The aircraft forms part of the airline’s broader strategy to modernise its fleet, strengthen long-haul connectivity, and expand its international network across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Ethiopian Airlines introduced the A350 family to Africa in 2016 and has since steadily grown its fleet. The carrier currently has commitments for 33 A350s, including four larger A350-1000s, and maintains a seven-year Flight Hour Services contract with Airbus covering 24 aircraft for maintenance, spare parts, and engineering support. The airline has also incorporated Sustainable Aviation Fuel on some flights, reflecting its focus on operational efficiency and sustainability.
