Addis Ababa is set to reshape key urban corridors and riverfront areas through a new partnership with Ethiopian Airlines Group. The cooperation agreement, recently formalised, establishes a structured framework for joint urban development initiatives.

The city’s leadership, including Mayor Adanech Abebe and Ethiopian Airlines’ CEO, Ato Mesfin Tasa, alongside management teams, conducted coordinated site visits to assess priority areas for development. The visits highlighted opportunities to integrate tourism infrastructure, social projects, and aviation safety enhancements into the city’s growth plans.

Officials said the partnership will focus on developing riverbanks and urban corridors, creating new tourism hubs, and promoting Addis Ababa as the “new face of Africa.” The projects are designed to strengthen community engagement while providing a more organised and sustainable approach to urban expansion.

The Mayor acknowledged the airline’s previous contributions to corridor projects and expressed confidence that the new agreement will enable more efficient and impactful implementation of future initiatives.
