Ethiopia has called on Colombian businesses to invest in sectors ranging from agriculture and manufacturing to energy, mining and tourism, as Addis Ababa seeks to broaden its trade and investment relations with Bogotá.

At the Ethiopia-Colombia Business Forum held in Addis Ababa, State Minister of Trade and Regional Integration Deta Yasmin Wohabrebbi said the government’s recent reforms have created a more attractive investment climate and encouraged Colombian investors to tap into the opportunities.

She pointed to Ethiopia’s large domestic market, growing pool of skilled labour, and strategic location as factors positioning the country as a gateway for investment in Africa.

The two nations, which have maintained diplomatic relations for more than 76 years, are now aiming to translate their longstanding ties into deeper economic cooperation. Colombia’s Vice Minister of Trade said her government was keen to strengthen commercial relations with Ethiopia and expand partnerships across multiple sectors.

The forum brought together officials, business associations and private sector representatives from both countries, with discussions focused on trade facilitation, investment opportunities and long-term partnerships.
