Ethiopia Repatriates More Than 98,900 Citizens Under Return Programme

More than 98,900 Ethiopians have been repatriated under a government programme launched to return citizens facing difficult conditions abroad, according to the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs.

The latest return involved 2,463 Ethiopians from Saudi Arabia, including 2,462 men and one woman. The group also included 57 people under the age of 18, the ministry said.

The repatriation programme began on September 15, 2025 and has since facilitated the return of citizens from abroad, according to ministry data.

Authorities provide returning citizens with assistance at airports and temporary accommodation centres before facilitating their reunification with family members.
