Ethiopia has launched an official nation brand website aimed at presenting the country’s history, cultural heritage, economic transformation and development ambitions to an international audience, the Office of the Prime Minister said on Wednesday.

The platform brings together Ethiopia’s historical identity and current development priorities, including renewable energy, environmental restoration, urban development and its role in African affairs.

The website highlights Ethiopia’s association with coffee, its archaeological significance in understanding human origins, and the Green Legacy Initiative, the government’s tree-planting and environmental restoration programme. It also features the country’s renewable energy resources, the transformation of Addis Ababa and Ethiopia’s long-standing role in Pan-African affairs.

The initiative comes as Ethiopia prepares to host the 32nd United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP32), giving the country an opportunity to present its environmental priorities, cultural heritage and development agenda to a global audience.

The platform also draws attention to Ethiopia’s ancient civilisation and international sporting achievements, particularly its record in long-distance running.

The Office of the Prime Minister said the website would present Ethiopia’s heritage, discoveries and aspirations in its own voice, framing the initiative as an effort to shape how the country is understood internationally.
