Ethiopia has officially launched the Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2) at the Addis International Convention Center, under the theme “Accelerating Global Climate Solutions: Financing Africa’s Resilient and Green Development.”
The three-day summit, running from September 8 to 10, 2025, is co-hosted by the Government of Ethiopia and the African Union Commission.
Several African heads of state arrived in Addis Ababa on the weekend. Among them were Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Tanzania’s Vice-President Dr. Philip Isdori Mpango, and Libya’s Presidential Council Vice-President Mousa Ilkon.
The summit aims to advance African-led climate solutions and secure financial commitments to support the continent’s green development. Pre-summit events from September 5 to 7 allowed youth, community representatives, and civil society to contribute perspectives on sustainable climate policies.
Officials highlighted that the summit will provide a platform for discussing strategies to address Africa’s climate vulnerabilities and promote long-term resilience.
