UN Reports Ethiopia Has Received Over 76,000 Refugees From Sudan Conflict

Ethiopia continues to receive thousands of refugees who have been displaced from their villages by fleeing the ongoing conflict in Sudan, according to the United Nations High Commission for Refugees.

It said that among the refugees who entered Ethiopia from Sudan are Sudanese citizens, Ethiopian refugees, and other people seeking international protection.

the commission called "the movement of refugees from Sudan to Ethiopia", it stated that between April 2023 and August 2025, a total of 76,052 refugees in need of international protection entered Ethiopia.

The report added that in 2025, the number of refugees entering Ethiopia reached 8,268. Of the total of 76,052 refugees who entered Ethiopia, 45,118 are Sudanese, 20,226 are Ethiopians, 8,284 are Eritreans, and 2,424 are citizens of other countries

It was also noted that the Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS), in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, continues to check and register newly arriving refugees at the entry points on the Ethio-Sudan border.
