The annual World Peace Index has shown that Ethiopia and Eritrea rank among the lowest in terms of peace among countries around the world.
Ethiopia and Eritrea received the lowest scores in the 2025 Global Peace Index (GPI) report, which assessed the peace status of 163 countries around the world.
Ethiopia ranks 138th out of 163 countries, 25 ahead of Eritrea, which ranks 132nd.
The report noted that peace in the country has deteriorated due to the war in northern Ethiopia that erupted in late 2020, especially in the Tigray region.
Additionally, Ethiopia ranks 36th and Eritrea 32nd out of 44 African countries included in this peace assessment.
As a result, Ethiopia and Eritrea are among the countries included in the assessment and are included in the list of countries with the lowest level of peace in the 2025 Global Peace Index.
