Ethiopia’s Information Network Security Administration said it responded to 27,773 cyber attacks during the first half of the 2025/26 fiscal year, preventing 27,505 of them, or 99.03 percent.

The data were presented as part of the agency’s mid-year performance assessment, which reviewed operational outcomes and institutional support activities.

In addition to cybersecurity operations, the administration reported progress in digital forensics, handling 253 investigation requests over the six-month period and providing responses to 245 cases.

Director-General Tigist Hamid said the agency has been reinforcing its technological infrastructure to improve its ability to identify threats early and respond promptly. She stated that defensive systems are being continuously updated to address the changing characteristics of cyber attacks.

The administration also outlined its role in supporting the Digital Ethiopia 2030 strategy by assisting public institutions in adopting digital tools designed to modernise service delivery.

Projects implemented during the reporting period include the rollout of an electronic invoicing system at the Ministry of Revenues, the introduction of body-worn cameras at Addis Ababa Revenues, and the development of integrated human resources and document management systems for the Federal Police.

The agency said it continues to work to prevent and mitigate cyber threats targeting institutions across Ethiopia.
