Ethio Telecom has entered a strategic partnership with the Future of Education & Work in Africa (FEWA) to promote smart education solutions across the continent, marking a step toward its goal of regional digital integration.

The agreement was signed during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Kigali 2025, where the company hosted Joseph Nsengimana, Rwanda’s Minister of Education, alongside FEWA representatives. The delegation visited Ethio Telecom’s exhibition booth, where the company showcased its smart education platform designed to enhance digital learning and classroom connectivity. Nsengimana commended the initiative, noting its relevance to Africa’s broader education reform agenda.

The partnership supports Ethio Telecom’s “Next Horizon: Digital & Beyond 2028” strategy, which aims to transform the state-owned operator into a regionally diversified digital enterprise. Under the plan, the company targets 100 million subscribers by 2028, while expanding its digital services portfolio, including TeleBirr mobile money, cloud solutions, and EdTech platforms.

FEWA, which operates at the intersection of policy, innovation, and human capital development, focuses on aligning Africa’s education systems with future labour market needs. The organisation’s programmes emphasise technology-enabled learning, reskilling, and the application of artificial intelligence in education.
