An Equatorial Guinea court has found Ruslan Obiang Nsuwen, the son of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, guilty of illegally selling an ATR 72-500 aircraft belonging to the country's airline.

Ruslan faces up to six years in prison unless he pays the airline nearly $255,000 in restitution, in addition to damages and a government fine.

He was acquitted of other charges, including embezzlement and abuse of power.

Ruslan, 50, a former Minister of State for Sports and Youth, was placed under house arrest in 2023 on the orders of Vice President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mbeki.
