Equatorial Guinea’s cabinet has resigned after an internal assessment found that the government had achieved only a small share of its planned objectives, Vice President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue said, according to Reuters.

Prime Minister Manuel Osa Nsue Nsua submitted the resignation of all government members after the administration reached about 10 percent of its targets, the vice president said. He did not provide details on the specific benchmarks used in the assessment.

The resignation follows Osa Nsue Nsua’s appointment as prime minister in 2024 by President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and comes as the government undergoes a restructuring process.

The ruling Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE) said the administration had implemented initiatives in areas including public administration, infrastructure, public services and economic development during its time in office.

The party described the cabinet’s collective resignation as part of periodic institutional reorganisations aimed at aligning government structures with the state’s priorities.

President Obiang has ruled Equatorial Guinea since 1979, making him the world’s longest-serving president, Reuters reported. The country is a major oil producer in Central Africa.
