Jeffrey Epstein was on the verge of buying a multi-million dollar palace in Morocco the day before his 2019 arrest, according to documents released by the US Department of Justice last month.

Epstein had been trying to buy the Ben Enakil Palace in Morocco since 2011, but the deal stalled for years due to disagreements over the price and terms of the purchase.

The grand palace, located in the Palmeraie district of Marrakech, is said to be a masterpiece of architecture, built by 1,300 craftsmen and adorned with ornate carvings and mosaics.

Epstein signed a $14.95 million payment on July 5, 2019, the day before his arrest.

This was after he reached an agreement with the property management company to buy the property for 18 million euros.

According to the documents, it was the last purchase Epstein made before he was arrested by US authorities on charges of sex crimes.

Three days before his arrest, Epstein's accountant, Richard Khan, failed to pay the money, causing the purchase to fall through.

The US Department of Justice has released a series of documents on convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

Epstein died in August 2019 while awaiting trial in a New York prison after being denied bail on sex trafficking charges.
