Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi reportedly received Sudanese Sovereign Council President Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan at the Al-Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo and held talks.
During the discussion, they discussed in detail bilateral relations, the Nile River water issue, and the conflict in Sudan.
Egyptian presidential spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawi said that President El-Sisi welcomed Lt. Gen. Al-Burhan's visit and praised the "deep-rooted brotherly relations" between Egypt and Sudan and the progress seen in various fields of cooperation.
The two leaders discussed recent developments regarding the Nile River water issue.
They reaffirmed their firm opposition to "any unilateral action" on the Nile River that violates international law.
Lt. Gen. Al-Burhan stressed the coordinated position of Egypt and Sudan on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, and agreed to strengthen dialogue and coordination mechanisms with President El-Sisi to safeguard their shared water interests.
