Egypt and Saudi Arabia have announced the start of a joint naval military exercise involving four countries bordering the Red Sea; among the countries announced to be participating in the military exercise are Sudan, Djibouti, Yemen, and Jordan.

Egypt's State Intelligence Service (SIS) has not commented on Eritrea's participation in the military exercise.

The naval military exercise, dubbed "Red Wave 8," began on November 11, 2025, and is expected to continue for several days.

The exercise also included joint operational planning, simulation exercises to counter non-standard maritime threats, and classroom training aimed at harmonizing operational procedures among participating forces.

The exercise is intended to "develop skills and exchange professional experience among participating navies," the information indicated.

In a report published by Somali Hiran Online regarding the military exercise, it was noted that countries in the region, including Ethiopia, are closely monitoring the ongoing military exercise.
