Egypt has reportedly launched a new diplomatic campaign and mediation effort against various African countries that contradicts Ethiopia's policy on the Nile River.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdellatif spoke by phone on Thursday with his counterparts from Sudan, South Sudan, Djibouti, Uganda, Kenya and Somalia, Egyptian media reported.

In his speech, the minister "reaffirmed Egypt's rejection of unilateral actions that violate international law in the Nile Basin," the Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced.

Despite Ethiopia's repeated assurances and the fact that the Nile River Cooperation Framework Agreement (CFA), which stipulates the equitable use of the Nile River, officially entered into force in October 2024, Egypt's diplomatic pressure has not stopped.
