Ethiopian Electric Utility Reports 33.65 Billion Birr Revenue in Four Months

Ethiopian Electric Utility said it generated 33.65 billion birr during the first four months of the current fiscal year from energy sales, new customer connections, asset disposals and other revenue sources. The performance stands at 97 percent of the 33.72 billion birr target set for the period.

Chief executive Getu Geremew said energy sales accounted for 22.21 billion birr, meeting ninety-nine percent of the utility’s plan. He added that one hundred fifty-three thousand nine hundred seventy-three new customers were connected to the grid between Meskerem and Tikimt.

The utility noted continued progress in its digital payment systems, reporting that 95 percent of customer payments in October were completed through electronic channels as part of its wider shift toward automated billing and settlement.
