US President Donald Trump said he would “indirectly” participate in the US-Iran talks in Geneva before they begin.

Asked if he thought the talks between the two countries would “fail,” the president said, “I think they want to make a deal. I don’t think they want to accept the consequences of not making a deal.”

"Iran is a very strong negotiator. For better or for worse," the US president said. "They are a bad negotiator, because we could have made a deal before we sent the B-2 bombers to destroy their nuclear facilities. But now I think they are more responsible. They want to make a deal."

Hours after the president made the remarks, a spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry expressed optimism about the talks.

The spokesman was quoted as saying that the United States is now "more reasonable" than it was before.

The second round of talks between Iran and the United States will begin in Geneva on Tuesday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that the negotiations must include a complete halt to Iran's uranium enrichment and the complete removal of enriched uranium from the country before they can begin.

He also commented that the negotiations should include Iran's ballistic missiles.
