The Venezuelan capital Caracas has been rocked by multiple explosions.

Residents of Caracas have reported seeing multiple planes flying at low altitude.

Footage shows the attack on military installations and an air force base.

Trump said he had arrested Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

The attack came after weeks of intense pressure from Washington.

Iran has condemned the US attack as a "blatant violation of Venezuela's territorial integrity" and has called on international institutions such as the United Nations (UN) to intervene.

Russia, for its part, has accused the US of "carrying out an armed invasion."

The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement today condemning the attack on Venezuela and calling for resolving the problems through dialogue.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez has condemned the US military action against its leftist ally Venezuela as a "crime."
