The Development Bank of Ethiopia has installed five new vice presidents as part of a rapid reorganisation of senior management at the state owned policy lender, according to Addis Fortune.

The appointments were made on January 12, 2026, after Brook Taye (PhD), the chief executive officer of Ethiopian Investment Holdings, took over as board chairman of the bank, replacing Teklewold Atnafu, the former governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia.

Yeneneh Gizaw was named vice president for corporate services, succeeding Getachew Wake, who had been the bank’s longest serving executive. Getasew Fentawe was appointed vice president for small and medium enterprise financing, while Getachew Belay was assigned to oversee corporate customer management.

The leadership changes also brought in Abebaw Siraj as vice president for finance and international banking and Desalegn Haile as vice president responsible for information systems and digital banking, according to Addis Fortune.

The reshuffle comes after the appointment of Essayas Kassa (PhD) as president of the Development Bank of Ethiopia, succeeding Emebet Melese (PhD). Essayas previously served on the founding executive team of the Ethiopian Capital Markets Authority, where he worked under Brook’s leadership.
