Dashen Bank Launches Platinum Mastercard With Global Airport Lounge Access

Dashen Bank has launched a Platinum Mastercard linked to Ethiopian Airlines’ ShebaMiles loyalty programme, offering eligible cardholders access to more than 1,600 airport lounges worldwide alongside airline rewards and other travel benefits.

The co-branded card, developed with Mastercard and Ethiopian Airlines, combines international payments with rewards on everyday spending and travel-related purchases, allowing customers to accumulate ShebaMiles beyond those earned through flights.

The card also offers airport fast-track services and international data roaming, according to the announcement. It operates on Mastercard’s global payment network and is available in physical and virtual formats.

The virtual card can be obtained through Dashen Bank’s Super App, which has more than two million active users, according to the bank. The digital option allows customers to access the product without first obtaining a physical card.

Asfaw Alemu, chief executive of Dashen Bank, said the partnership combines payment services, travel and loyalty benefits in a single product. He added that customers would be able to access the card digitally through the bank’s app or opt for a physical version.

The launch links Dashen Bank’s card-issuing services with Ethiopian Airlines’ ShebaMiles programme, which rewards members for eligible flights and spending with participating partners. Mastercard provides the international payment network and associated card benefits.
