The party announced this during its first general assembly in Addis Ababa.

The party, which claims it was unable to hold its founding conference in the Tigray region, also stated that its office in Tigray has also been dissolved.

The Ethiopian National Election Board granted the Democratic Alliance of Tigray Party temporary political party registration permission in May.

The so-called "Tigray Peace Army" is claimed by the military leaders of the TPLF and others to be the Tigray wing of the Democratic Alliance.

The party has called this information "completely false."

It has stated that these members support the struggle they are waging, but it has also stated that it does not believe in armed struggle, but only in peaceful means.

The opening ceremony of the conference was attended by influential individuals and politicians from several parties operating in the region.

The party’s chairman and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s East Africa Advisor, Ato Getachew Reda, delivered the opening speech at the conference.
