The US State Department has announced that it will revoke the visa of Colombian President Gustavo Petros.

The leftist leader decided after he attended a pro-Palestinian demonstration in New York.

The president's presence at the demonstration was described as "incendiary."

It is worth noting that the United States has denied visas to 80 Palestinian leaders, including Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, to attend the UN General Assembly in New York.

President Petro was scheduled to fly from New York to Bogota on Friday evening, Colombian media reported, citing Agence France-Presse.

Relations between the United States and Colombia have soured since Petro came to power.

In an interview with the BBC last week, he denounced the Trump administration's alleged airstrikes against drug traffickers as "an act of tyranny."
