Citi has been named Africa’s Best Investment Bank for Financing by Euromoney, marking a notable recognition of the bank’s growing role in delivering complex capital solutions across the continent.

The accolade, announced as part of the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2025, cited Citi’s performance in sovereign debt deals, corporate financing, and private-sector capital mobilization in challenging African markets. The firm was praised for its ability to navigate regulatory barriers while leveraging its global institutional network to structure and execute transactions across multiple jurisdictions.

Citi served as joint bookrunner and fiscal agent on a range of high-profile African sovereign issuances during the past year. It also supported corporate clients with structured financing and cross-border lending arrangements, including ESG-linked facilities.

The award forms part of a wider sweep for the bank, which secured a record 52 wins across global, regional and market-level categories. Jane Fraser, Citi’s chief executive, was separately named Banker of the Year by Euromoney for her role in refocusing the bank’s operations and strengthening its institutional franchise.

Fraser has overseen a multiyear restructuring that involved divesting retail operations in several countries, including in Africa, to streamline Citi into a more targeted, cross-border banking operation focused on multinational corporations, governments and large investors.

In Africa, Citi has positioned itself as a key conduit for international capital flows, offering advisory, financing and risk management services in markets often characterised by limited liquidity and high macroeconomic volatility.
