Growing up, Georgina Owino loved poetry, languages, and the art of storytelling, yet she never imagined that she would one day become an author. Her life took a decisive turn during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she began the journey of publishing her first book, Choose to Believe. At the time, she was navigating a profoundly difficult season, which included going through a painful divorce. It was one of the darkest periods of her life, marked by uncertainty, yet it was also where she found a renewed sense of hope and the courage to move forward.

For much of her life, Georgina believed she had never been taught how to truly process emotions after enduring hardship. As a result, she learned to bury her emotions rather than actually deal with them.

Processing overwhelming emotions became a central theme in Choose to Believe, a faith-based children’s story about the inner battle between fear and courage, and the quiet strength it takes to choose hope when doubt feels stronger than bravery. Through her story, Georgina emphasizes that courage isn’t the absence of fear, but the decision to move forward despite it—a lesson she believes is essential for both children and adults.

“The grief I experienced through my divorce, mourning my marriage and grieving what life would look like for my children, combined with unresolved experiences from my childhood,” Georgina explained. “Learning to heal by bringing God into that process was the greatest lesson of my life and ultimately the reason I wrote this book.”

Trained as a lawyer and a mother of two, Georgina balanced her demanding responsibilities by writing late at night, often between 10:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m., after work and once her children were asleep. When Choose to Believe was published in November of last year, it marked the beginning of an entirely new chapter in her life.

“The real work starts once you publish the book,” she said. “That’s when you have to learn about marketing, distribution, and how to reach people through social media.

The public response has been overwhelmingly positive. Choose to Believe became the number one new release on Amazon and ranked as a top ten bestseller in the Christian Children’s Social Issues category. Readers have shared how the book has encouraged them during challenging moments. “My family absolutely enjoyed this book,” one reviewer wrote on Amazon. “It is a beautiful, faith-filled story about overcoming fear and trusting in God.”

For Georgina, this is only the beginning. She plans to release additional books in the series in the coming seasons. Her motivation, however, goes beyond publishing success or financial gain. Her mission is to reach more people and help them discover who they were created to be.

Her advice to anyone hoping to accomplish something meaningful is simple yet powerful:

“Stop waiting for the right moment. Know your why. Do it whenever you can, and always ask yourself why you are doing it.”
