Chinese Embassy Seeks Stronger Legal Protection for Nationals in Zambia

China’s Embassy in Zambia is seeking stronger legal and consular protection for Chinese nationals in the country, bringing together Zambian prosecution officials and representatives of the Chinese business community for a legal affairs dialogue.

Counsellor Wang Li of the Embassy hosted senior officials from Zambia’s National Prosecution Authority (NPA), led by Principal State Advocate Rhoda Malibata-Jackson, alongside nearly 30 representatives from major Chinese community associations and chambers of commerce.

The dialogue provided Chinese nationals and businesses with an opportunity to learn more about Zambia’s legal system and judicial procedures while raising concerns directly with prosecution authorities.

Wang said the growing number of Chinese nationals in Zambia had made understanding local laws and regulations increasingly important.

She said the meeting was part of the Embassy’s efforts to strengthen engagement with Zambian prosecution authorities and improve mechanisms for protecting Chinese nationals in the country.

Malibata-Jackson said the Chinese community had made significant contributions to Zambia’s social and economic development and called for stronger exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in legal affairs.

Chinese community representatives participated in discussions with NPA officials, exchanging views on legal matters affecting their activities in Zambia.

They said they would deepen their understanding of Zambian laws and regulations and continue contributing to economic and other cooperation between China and Zambia.
