CBE Capital has signed an investment banking agreement with Hibret Insurance, Ethiopia’s second-largest private insurance firm, marking the latest in a series of partnerships with leading private sector companies.

The deal was formalised today by Hibret Insurance CEO Meseret Bezabih and CBE Capital CEO Zemedeneh Negatu. Founded 31 years ago with 87 investors and an initial capital of 8.0 million birr, Hibret Insurance now counts over 700 shareholders and has a paid-up capital exceeding 1.0 billion birr. Under the agreement, CBE Capital will provide advisory services, including potential listings on Ethiopia’s stock exchange, highlighting its commitment to supporting the country’s growing private sector and developing capital markets.

The Hibret Insurance deal is the latest in a series of recent agreements by CBE Capital. In August 2025, the company signed a partnership with Nib International Bank to provide investment banking services, and in early October 2025, it entered into a similar agreement with Waliif Investment and Trade.

These agreements form part of CBE Capital’s ongoing engagement with Ethiopia’s private sector and the development of the country’s capital markets.
