Book Chronicling Ethiopian Army Chief Berhanu Jula’s Military Career Launched

A new book chronicling the military career, leadership and personal experiences of Ethiopia’s Chief of Staff, Field Marshal Berhanu Jula, has been launched in Addis Ababa.

Titled "Dil Qursu", the book traces Berhanu Jula’s journey from a rural part of Ethiopia into the military and his subsequent career in the country’s armed forces.

The book examines his experiences in military service, leadership and the challenges he encountered throughout his career, according to information released by the Ethiopian National Defence Force.

Rather than focusing solely on his personal history, the publication presents his military career and leadership experiences against the backdrop of periods of political and security challenges in Ethiopia.

The launch brought together academics, diplomats, military representatives and senior government officials.

Professor Dagnachew Assefa, Zadic Abraha of the African Excellence Academy and Berhanu Deboch presented academic reviews and discussions of the book during the launch ceremony.

Former Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome attended the event as a guest of honour, alongside military attachés representing various countries, diplomats and senior government officials.

The publication comes as Berhanu Jula serves as chief of staff of the Ethiopian National Defence Force, the country's top military command position.

The book provides an account of his progression through military service and the experiences that shaped his career and approach to leadership.
