Organizations Near Bishoftu Town Request Government Assistance for Damage Caused by Heavy Rains and Hailstorms

The combined rain and wind disaster struck the farms on Monday, August 2025 and It was reported that the damage caused by the combined rain and wind caused significant losses to flower and fruit farms and forced the organizations to stop working.

Among the companies affected, Vegipro, a fruit and vegetable producer, said 20 hectares of its 26 hectares of farmland were damaged, Mahendra Patel, the company's general manager, told reporters.

He said that a total of two million dollars worth of greenhouses were destroyed in the agricultural development, and that since the materials needed to replace the destroyed ones are not produced domestically, the government should provide tax-free importation and various support measures to help them return to work quickly

Patel, who said the company started investing in agriculture in Ethiopia in 2011, said it will take at least five months to fully recover from the disaster and return to work.
