An Austrian man has been charged with terrorism and other crimes for plotting to attack a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna in August 2024.

Prosecutors said the 21-year-old suspect, identified only as Beran A., was charged with membership in a terrorist organization, making explosives and attempting to illegally acquire weapons.

He was also accused of spreading propaganda for the Islamic State. The defendant faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

The suspect was arrested on a tip-off from the CIA before a Taylor Swift concert.

American singer Taylor Swift has canceled three concerts scheduled for Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium.

More than 195,000 people were expected to attend the concerts.

Last year, a 16-year-old Syrian teenager known as Mohamed A. was sentenced to 18 months in prison by a German court for the attack. He was released without charge under the Juvenile Offences Act.

In total, three people, including Beran A., were arrested in 2024. All were teenagers at the time.
