The Ethiopian Ministry of Defense stated on its official Facebook page that the issues surrounding Assab and the Red Sea are "misleading" and "insincere."

The ministry said in a message on its Facebook page titled "We know very well that Ethiopia is ours and we will die for it" on Saturday, September 27, 2025, that the Red Sea and Assab issues have been "the disease of our Ethiopia for more than three decades and have diminished the dignity of its great nationhood. Geopolitics has undermined its vital national interests."

"We are filled with great joy that Ethiopian soldiers have publicly questioned the Red Sea issue in the international arena," the Ministry of Defense said in a statement on its official Facebook page.

The Defense Ministry said in a statement that the military "will not hesitate to make any sacrifice to safeguard Ethiopia's national interests."

Referring to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, which was inaugurated a week ago, he stated his position, saying, "We firmly believe that there is no reason why the Red Sea issue cannot be resolved."

Therefore, the Ministry of Defense issued a message stating that "attempting to deny the Red Sea and Assab port issues as incorrect from any perspective cannot have any logic that would raise any water other than banditry."
