The US Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona filed immigration-related criminal charges against 254 individuals during a week-long enforcement operation from July 4 to July 10, 2026.

The cases included 63 charges of illegal re-entry after previous removal and 169 charges of illegal entry into the United States.

Authorities also brought 18 cases involving 22 individuals accused of smuggling migrants into or within Arizona.

The enforcement actions were supported by multiple federal agencies including ICE, US Border Patrol, DEA, FBI, US Marshals Service and ATF.

Among the highlighted cases was that of Oscar Martinez-Lopez, charged with re-entry of a removed alien and sentenced to 21 months in prison.

Another case involved Angel Gabriel Hernandez-Bernal, charged with re-entry after a previous deportation and prior convictions for aggravated assault.

The operation was conducted under Operation Take Back America, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative targeting illegal immigration, drug trafficking and violent crime.

Prosecutors emphasised the importance of enforcing immigration laws and maintaining public safety in border states.

The cases highlight ongoing federal efforts to address illegal immigration and related criminal activities in Arizona.
