AngloGold Ashanti nearly tripled its full-year profit in 2025, reporting headline earnings of 2.725 billion US dollars, up from 954 million US dollars the previous year, Reuters reports. The jump reflects a combination of higher production and rising gold prices.

The miner produced 3.1 million ounces of gold in 2025, a 16 percent increase over 2024, driven largely by the first full-year output from the Sukari mine in Egypt, where AngloGold acquired a 50 percent stake in 2024. Rising spot gold prices, which surged more than 60 percent last year, contributed to an average realised price 45 percent above the previous year, enabling total dividend payments of 1.8 billion US dollars, including a quarterly payout of 1.73 US dollars per share.

AngloGold announced initial mineral reserves of 4.9 million ounces at its Arthur Gold Project in Nevada following pre-feasibility studies, Reuters notes. The discovery, the second-largest reserve in the company’s portfolio, underpins an estimated nine-year mine life and projected average annual production of 500,000 ounces. Capital expenditure for the project is expected to reach 3.6 billion US dollars.

“What started only a few years ago as an ambitious exploration thesis has now evolved into one of the largest and most significant greenfield gold discoveries of this century in the U.S.,” CEO Alberto Calderon said during a results call.

Founded in 1998, AngloGold Ashanti emerged from the South African gold assets of Anglo American Plc before being spun off. The company operates in Australia, Ghana, Tanzania, Guinea, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Brazil, and Egypt.
