Al-Shabaab has called on Somali citizens residing in Israel to oppose the country’s recognition of Somaliland’s independence, according to a video statement by the group’s spokesperson.

Sheikh Ali Mohamud Rage, also known as Ali Dahir, condemned Somali political leaders, describing them as “Hadi” and accusing them of betraying the Somali people by establishing a “puppet government.” He urged armed individuals, particularly youth, to “initiate conflict against Israel from wherever they are located.”

The spokesperson also claimed that Al-Shabaab is prepared to supply weapons and training to those willing to join the campaign.

The group, linked to international terrorist networks including Al-Qaeda, has a history of violent operations across Somalia and other East African nations. Analysts believe it collaborates with regional militant factions in pursuit of its objective to overthrow the Somali government.

Israel’s recognition of Somaliland has drawn strong opposition from Al-Shabaab, which has called on Somalis to respond to what it views as a challenge to their homeland.
