Ethiopian Airlines has expanded its operations in Mozambique with the launch of thrice-weekly flights to Nacala, bringing to three the number of destinations it serves in the southern African country.

The new service adds Nacala, a coastal city in northern Mozambique, to the airline’s existing routes to Maputo and Beira. The inaugural flight departed from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport following a ceremony attended by government officials, industry stakeholders and airline executives.

The route extends Ethiopian Airlines’ presence beyond Mozambique’s capital and central region, providing passengers travelling to and from the north with connections through the carrier’s Addis Ababa hub.

“This new service further strengthens our footprint in Mozambique, making Nacala the third destination in the country served by Ethiopian Airlines,” said Mesfin Tasew, the airline’s group chief executive.

The airline said the new connection would improve access to northern Mozambique’s tourism attractions and economic opportunities, while supporting trade, investment and commercial links with international markets.

Ethiopian Airlines serves more than 65 destinations across Africa through its Addis Ababa hub, which connects the continent with international markets. The addition of Nacala expands its African route network and strengthens its coverage of Mozambique.
