Africa Data Centres has partnered with fibre infrastructure provider Oni-Tel Fibre Networks to strengthen interconnection across its Gauteng data centre campuses in South Africa. The agreement connects Africa Data Centres’ Midrand and Samrand facilities to Oni-Tel Fibre Networks’ Infinity fibre interconnection platform.

The companies said the infrastructure is designed to improve network resilience, increase bandwidth capacity and support rising demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence workloads and data-intensive enterprise applications.

Adil El Youssefi, chief executive of Africa Data Centres, said rising demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence and other data-heavy workloads is pushing enterprises to seek more reliable and scalable connectivity within local data centres.

He said the partnership with Oni-Tel Fibre Networks is intended to expand access to higher-capacity fibre infrastructure, enabling customers to scale operations while maintaining secure, enterprise-grade environments. Oni-Tel Fibre Networks said its Infinity platform is designed to deliver scalable, carrier-grade connectivity with ultra-low latency across strategic data centre hubs in Gauteng.

The partnership expands interconnection options for Africa Data Centres customers, including enterprises, cloud providers and financial institutions, while strengthening its vendor-neutral ecosystem across the continent’s largest data centre network.

Both companies said the collaboration reflects growing demand for robust digital infrastructure in South Africa, as businesses scale cloud adoption and digital services across the region.

Businesses in technology, finance and cloud services are expected to benefit from the improved connectivity and higher bandwidth capacity between the data centres.

Overall, the partnership between Africa Data Centres and Oni-Tel Fibre Networks marks a significant step in enhancing digital infrastructure and interconnection capabilities in South Africa.
