Addis Ababa Police have taken enforcement action against 1,111 vehicles and motorcycles for various traffic violations in a week-long inspection, including the use of unauthorised permits for dark-tinted vehicle windows.

Abera Baysa, head of the police headquarters' Main Traffic Department, said the measures covered 899 motorcycle riders using expired sticker-based permits issued by unauthorised sources, 153 riders involved in other traffic violations and 59 vehicles found damaging roads while transporting soil.

The enforcement campaign also targeted drivers using expired or unrenewed permits for tinted vehicle windows, exceeding city speed limits and violating other traffic regulations.

The police said the action was part of efforts to enforce traffic laws, improve road safety and maintain smooth traffic flow in the capital.

The Addis Ababa Police Headquarters said enforcement against traffic violators would continue to be intensified and urged drivers to comply with traffic regulations.
