The Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations held talks with the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce on expanding trade and investment cooperation between the two cities, officials said.

The discussions focused on practical areas for joint work, including facilitating business linkages, sharing market information and promoting investment opportunities in both countries. Participants said closer institutional ties between the chambers would help companies build direct partnerships and improve access to reliable commercial data.

The Addis Chamber delegation, led by its president Zahara Mohammed, met with Giustin Eyupoka, board member of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, and other senior officials during their visit to Turkey.

Both sides said the dialogue and the existing cordial relations between the institutions could strengthen business-to-business engagement and enable firms to take advantage of emerging opportunities.

Officials noted that relations between Ethiopia and Turkey, as well as between Addis Ababa and Istanbul, date back many years. They said cooperation between the two chambers could further reinforce economic ties at a city level.

During its stay in Istanbul, the Addis Chamber delegation also attended the 14th World Industrial Cooperation Forum. The team visited several institutions to exchange experience, including Istanbul Gelisim University and organisations working in green and sustainable development initiatives.
